Sir Robert McAlpine Internship

In late 2019 I secured an internship at Sir Robert McAlpine, working in the head offices in Hemel Hempstead under the supervision and tuteledge of their senior graphic designers.
This was my first time experiencing working in a corporate setting, as well as working as a graphic designer with strict branding guidelines, and I found it an incredibly valuable time in learning about the world of corporate design.
I was honoured to be trusted to work on and produce materials that were to be used internally and externally, from documents, award plaques, photo books, social media content, as well as to be invited to work on building (at the time) a potential new aesthetic for the McAlpine Sustainability Strategy and work-place equality campaign.
I had a wonderful time during this internship and I am very grateful for all the support and encouragement I received while there.

Experiments with the potential new aesthetic for the Sustainability initiative, including art direction, icons, and infographic templates - all within the company branding.

Icons and 'McAlpine Man' created as possibilities for a design refresh of a App used by employees on site.

Examples of documents created within the McAlpine branding.

Poster concepts - I worked on the concepts for a series of posters to be displayed on site and in offices, advising employees to consider their words in case of offending those around them.

Social media assets shared internally and externally

Christmas Countdown gif process. I made three separate designs consisting of a robin, a waving snowman, and a christmas tree all featuring the company colours. Displayed on social media during the run up to Christmas 2019.
